Gyeongsangnam-do's local company, SPACEPRO (formerly Hankuk Fiber) under the New Power Plasma Group, announced on the 21st that it was awarded the Presidential Award at the '50th National Quality Innovation Competition,' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards.
The 'National Quality Innovation Competition,' often called the 'National Sports Festival of Industry,' was first held in 1975. It is a contest where participants present best practices for on-site quality improvement across 18 categories, including Safety Quality, Office Indirect (support), and Creative Improvement.
Marking its 50th edition this year, the competition was held at the Suwon Convention Center for five days, starting on August 26th.
A total of 2,600 team members from 298 teams, selected through preliminary rounds in 17 cities and provinces nationwide, participated in the intense competition.
SPACEPRO's quality control circle, named 'Geukgangpumjil' (Ultimate Quality), competed in the Office Indirect category with the theme, 'Shortening Inspection Time by Improving the Quality Inspection Process.'
Despite being its 'first attempt at the national competition,' the team achieved the honor of winning the 'Presidential Award Gold Prize.'
